With the end of the workshop, the Scot Association of Maldives had established its “VISION 2015”. I am proud to say that we are working forward and are achieving our goals one by one. One of the areas for development identified in the Vision is Information Technology and Communication (ICT).
We, mark the year 2006 as the Golden Jubilee of Scouting in Maldives, it is equally important to have proper and modern channels to pass information. The Vision 2015 has a target to attain our membership to 15,000 by the year 2015. I feel that it is also important to sustain our membership as we grow and maintain certain standards and quality. To develop sustainable Scouting with quality and standard, it is very important to have easy excess to updated Scouting information and more over scouting literature.
Maldives being a country with geographically dispersed population in a large number of islands it is very difficult to travel around across the sea and communication has been a predominant challenge and a hindrance to carry out any activity. However, we are proud to have at least one group in each atoll across the country.
This is only a beginning and we will try to develop the site and update it continuously. For this, I would like to have suggestions and ideas from you, the readers. The Scout Association of Maldives also welcomes your help and assistance to achieve our goals for better Scouting in Maldives.
I take this opportunity to salute the volunteer leaders whose untiring efforts and invaluable time has kept this movement going for the last Fifty years.
I pray for every success and a brighter future for Maldivian Scouting.
Sincerely yours.
